I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness. In August, I hosted a worship and prayer meeting at my house. One of my prayers was should I move forward in his endeavor of becoming a writer. I didn’t want to be out of God’s will for my life, or pursue something selfishly. Shortly after the meeting, my husband- unaware of my prayers- shared an email he had received from a publishing company. The next day a wonderful friend at work- whom I respect as an educator and writer- introduced me to the 2 day Storyline conference. In October, I took two days off of work to attend the conference. The speakers – Shauna Neiquist, Donald Miller, and Glennon Melton- were a breath of fresh air. I left the conference wanting to go above and beyond the mundane, assured of what God can and will do through me, but most importantly I had my answer- I was going to write. I was going to write despite my insecurities, despite my lack of faith in this area, despite my fear of failing…. It was time to trust God in an area that he has called me to partake in without knowing the outcome. I, Rosabel was going to take a leap of faith, jump off the edge, walk on water, trust in my God that knows all things, and at the end of the day I was going to be okay because He will sustain me.
After the conference, I participated in the online Storyline modules. I set a date for my blog to launch- January 1st, 2015. Leading up to this date, I prayed and meditated, but I did not begin writing. Yesterday, I sat down and developed by blog, with the help of my daughters- Bianca & Naomi. Bianca asked me to write my bio. I found myself stumped. Where do I begin? What style should I use? Who should I mention? The questions just kept coming, and no writing happened. Then, I asked myself “what do you love?” And I thought “Well, I love my coffee and tea, I love a good read, I love breakfast food, I love serenity… But why do I love these things?” And then the memories came. I started writing about my grandma Maria, my other grandma Francesca, and then I wrote about the women I love more than any woman in the world- my MOM! The tears came as I wrote, but they were tears of happiness, because I realized that this blog was more for me, then for anyone else. It became my encouraging word…
